Jack Palmer
Hello Parents! My name is Jack Palmer, and I am excited to be working with your child and the Academy this summer. I thought you'd like a little background on me, the adult who will be caring for your child for the next session of camp.
I grew up in Hackettstown, a small town in northwest New Jersey. I have been working with kids since I was 18, coaching little league soccer and wrestling. I went to college at Arizona State, where I majored in Psychology and Wilderness Education. I then took a NOLS mountaineering course in the Wind River Range of Wyoming. This experience made me proficient in backcountry skills and survival.
I then took a Wilderness First Responder course, where I learned a great deal about Wilderness First Aid. Last summer I worked with a great program called Supercamp. Here I was a team leader/counselor of 12 children. The camp was a wonderful experience. I've traveled through Central America on a motorcycle to enjoy different cultures, learn Spanish, meet interesting people and surf. I moved to Telluride in January of 98 to be in a great mountain culture. Telluride is a wonderful and beautiful place to have a camp where the children can enjoy the outdoors.
I am looking forward to meeting you and your child if I have not done so already. I hope to make his or her summer fun, exciting and unforgettable. If you have any questions please feel free to talk to me before or after the camp day.
