The Telluride Academy is headquartered in the Telluride Middle/High School located on the western edge of beautiful Telluride, Colorado. Our administrative office is located in the northwest corner of the school building year-round and the summers, we move into the classrooms.

Camp groups meet in their assigned classroom each morning - a list of camps and classrooms will be posted on the bulletin board located near the west-side entrance to the Telluride Middle/High School.

Each group of 12 students is assigned two instructors - typically a male and female team - a 15-passenger van for exploring the region and a classroom where they spend the first and last half-hour of their day.

A majority of our programs are two weeks long, except for Session 1 and 6 (the first and last week of summer programming) which are one week sessions. Most camps run from Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with overnights on Wednesday.

Telluride Academy- how it works

With more than 100 unique programs, though, there are many exceptions. Please check each camp carefully. Once you are registered for a program, please visit our website at www.tellurideacademy.com for a full itinerary and a complete list of gear and packing items needed for a particular camp. We are also happy to mail or fax these lists by request.

You can register for camp online, by mail, fax or in person. Registration requires a completed enrollment form, and a 25% non-refundable deposit and camper forms including a medical release and acknowledgement of risk. There are three forms that require a parent signature for each student and they are a great way of sharing information between the Academy and our families. Each of the three forms can be downloaded from our website by contacting us at 970-728-5311.

Registration will not be considered complete and your space will not be reserved until all deposits and forms have been received.

Programs are filled on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in a program that has already filled, contact the Academy about a waiting list; some programs can be expanded if enough interest exists. Also, please note that some of our programs have enrollment deadlines in the spring.

Full tuition payment will be due on May 15 , 2007.
If you are signing up for a program after May 15, full payment will be required at the time of registration.

Our Staff
Instructors are carefully hand picked from a large and qualified applicant pool. The average age of a Telluride Academy instructor is 27, and the average instructor works with Telluride Academy for three years. Instructors maintain minimum certifications of Wilderness First Aid and CPR. All have a passion for teaching young people, possess skills appropriate to the job, have passed a criminal background check and undergo intensive staff training annually.

Our Programs
At the Academy we offer a little bit of everything for everybody from visual and performing arts, to outdoor and mountain recreation, with plenty of good camp fun in between. However, we do break our programs down by age group. This means that not all programs are available to all ages, but it also means that we have created a system of programs where progression is a key element. This allows for every camper to have something to look forward to and in many cases goals to work towards.
