I wasn't born on a mountain-top. I'm not from Tennessee. Born and bred in Granger, Indiana, and for as long as I can remember, people have called me Dan. At sixteen, I was working at YMCA Camp Eberhart in Michigan. Living in a cabin with twenty boys and working as Head of the arts and crafts program. Did it all again when I was nineteen.
Lost at sea in 1938.
I attended college at Indiana University in Bloomington where I double-majored in Comparative Literature and English and minored in Religious Studies and Philosophy. While there, I worked two summers at a day camp called Kid City. This was my attempt to bring some of the camp and outdoor experience to kids living surrounded by pavement. I've taught Romanticism to under-grads and contributed work on a best-selling non-fiction book. I hope what I'm best at is being a tall friend to kids. I've spent the last few years wandering and working around this great town of Telluride.
Like Superman, I get my power form the sun.
